Customer Background

Daimler’s 1,500-ft in-line truck assembly process with 125+ manual workstations and no station-to-station visibility.

Challenge

No monitoring, control, or feedback across stations caused substantial unplanned downtime and left maintenance without tools to pinpoint issues.

Solution

Ignition SCADA powers a real-time ANDON system across the full line; Sepasoft MES calculates OEE and downtime-by-shift/line/station/equipment for continuous improvement.

Customer Background

At its Goleta, CA facility, Veoneer manufactures night-vision systems for leading automakers. A corporate restructuring made its existing SCADA/MES system unusable.

Challenge

Flexware had just three calendar months to recreate years of built-up SCADA and MES functionality, including traceability, under licensing restrictions.

Solution

Flexware built a reusable Ignition MES framework with product/order traceability, PLC-level ‘action scripting,’ and HTTP-based line integration — fully client-configurable.

Customer Background

The OEM ran disparate shop-floor systems — Dyno test, Emission test, Wheel Alignment, Nut runners, and more — each producing its own island of data ahead of final dispatch inspection.

Challenge

Integrate those islands of information into a central data storage and analytical system that applies pre-defined business rules and reports compliance to the pre-dispatch inspection station in a challenging takt time.

Solution

Deployed an Ethernet backbone linking the shop-floor systems to the MES, where analytics and reporting ran automatically — giving the dispatch stage on-time information, removing it as a shipment bottleneck, and helping meet shipment commitments.

Automotive Component Company — OT-IT Integration

Customer Background

Sensors, controllers, and HMIs were spread across multiple plant lines and locations, with no unified way to bring that shop-floor data onto an IIoT platform.

Challenge

Connect all locational data to a central server and modify PLC/HMI logic across many device varieties so the required data could be surfaced on the IIoT platform.

Solution

Developed/modified programs across PLCs, HMIs, and CNCs and integrated all data into an OPC server (Kepware), then mapped it into MES/IIoT screens — giving a single data source, an easily extendable platform, and role-based dashboards for Operators, Engineers, and Managers to monitor KPIs and act preventively.
